Beef and broccoli is a classic Chinese-American dish that has gained worldwide popularity. As the name suggests, this delectable stir-fry combines tender slices of beef with crisp, vibrant broccoli florets, cooked in a savory sauce.

Equipment

  • 1 large wok

Ingredients
  

  • 2.5 lbs top sirloin cut in thin slices
  • 2 large florets broccoli
  • 1 12 oz bag carrot chips
  • 2 tbsp arrow root starch or cornstarch

Sauce

  • 1 Cup beef broth low sodium
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce low sodium
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 8 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes optional
  • salt & pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, toss the sliced steak with arrowroot starch until coated. Set aside.
    2.5 lbs top sirloin, 2 tbsp arrow root starch
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the broccoli florets and carrots. and Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, until the broccoli begins to turn bright green. Remove the veggies from the pan and set aside.

  • Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the pan. Add the sliced steak and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until browned and cooked through.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the beef broth, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
    1 Cup beef broth, 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/3 cup honey, 1 tbsp oyster sauce, 8 cloves garlic, 1 tsp ground ginger, 1/2 tsp red chili flakes, salt & pepper
  • Add the sauce to the pan with the cooked steak. Bring to a simmer and cook for 1-2 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  • Serve the beef and broccoli over rice.
